Tammy Nguyen (b. 1984, San Francisco, CA, based in Easton, CT) is a multimedia artist whose practice encompasses painting, drawing, printmaking, and book making. Nguyen received a BFA from Cooper Union in 2007 and a Fulbright scholarship to study lacquer painting in Vietnam in 2008. Since earning her MFA from Yale in 2013, Nguyen has received numerous awards and fellowships, including being named a Guggenheim Fellow in 2023. She has exhibited at the Institute of Contemporary Art Boston, the Blanton Museum of Art, MOMA PS1, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, MIT Library, and the MOMA Library, among many others. She was recently selected to participate in the 61st International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, In Minor Keys, curated by the late Koyo Kouoh. She is represented by Lehmann Maupin and is a professor of art at Wesleyan University.
In addition to her practice in traditional fine arts, Nguyen is the founder of Passenger Pigeon Press. Nguyen’s imprint has published many zines, collaborations, and artist books that have been collected for institutional and personal libraries around the world.
